ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ has an onsite Student Health Clinic run by Mary Lanning, R.N., a registered nurse from Saint Joseph Health System.

Student Health Clinic location:
Room 116 of the Pfeil Center (left hallway from main entrance).

Hours of operation:
Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Students can walk-in.Ìý Appointments can be made by calling 574-239-1067 or emailing the office atÌý[email protected]

The clinic will be closed:

  • Labor Day
  • Fall Break
  • Thanksgiving Break
  • Winter Break
  • Spring Break
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Break
  • Summer Recess

Health Clinic Services

The Health Clinic can help students by:

  • Responding to immediate health issues, such as cuts, scrapes, and fevers, and providing basic medical care.
  • Provide aÌýSick NoteÌýif the nurse judges it appropriate.
  • Discuss remedies that a student can provide for themselves.
  • Administer some medications depending on symptoms.Ìý Medications are limited to Tylenol, ibuprofen, antacids and cough drops.
  • Providing health education to students, staff, and families on a range of topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Providing support when students may have mental health difficulties.Ìý Help students get in contact with counselors at Holy Cross for further assistance.
  • Acting as a bridge between students and families ensuring students get the care they need. Directing students to their family doctors, urgent care centers, or ER as indicated.
  • Testing for strep, mononucleosis, urine strip tests, pregnancy tests and direction for care depending on the result of these tests.

Services not available

  • Perform testing other than listed above.
  • Diagnose illnesses.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Physicals.
  • Perform invasive procedures such as removal of embedded foreign objects from wounds, ears, nose.
  • Give allergy injections or prescribed student medication requiring injections.
  • Vaccine administration.
  • Provide refrigeration for student medications.

Student Health Form

New studentsÌý complete the Health Background, Immunizations, and Health Insurance Form on the Holy Cross Applicant Portal prior to enrollment at ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ.

Holy Cross requires new studentsÌý to provide a copy of theirÌý immunization records, whichÌý areÌý uploaded via the Holy Cross Applicant Portal.

Returning studentsÌýare responsible each academic year for updating their health history and status (i.e. any new medical conditions/diagnoses and/or any new prescriptions) .Ìý Please send updatedÌý information toÌý[email protected].

Immunizations

All incoming students must have the following immunizations, according to the St. Joseph County Health Department:

  1. Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) series
  2. Varicella (chicken pox) series
  3. Hepatitis B series
  4. Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) (at or after age 10) or Tetanus, diphtheria (Td) if Tdap was received more than 10 years ago
  5. Meningitis-ACYW (after age 16) Note: Meningitis-B vaccine, while recommended, does not meet this requirement
  6. In addition, students coming from countries with high tuberculosis (TB) incidence must show proof of a TB test completed in the U.S.

Recommended Immunizations:

  1. Hepatitis A Series 1 and 2
  2. Hepatitis A & B Series 1, 2, and 3
  3. Polio
  4. Gardasil (HPV)- Series 1, 2, and 3
  5. Serogroup B Meningococcal
  6. COVID-19 vaccine.
